UPDATE: ASRPA Team placed third among Civilian Teams / Oglethorpe Trophy in the National Trophy Pistol Team Match!

Sunny, fair weather, with light breezes, graced all shooters at the 2019 National Pistol Championships on the green and beautiful grounds of the historic Camp Perry, OH.

In 5 days of the NRA matches, ASRPA fielded a 2-man team, alternating shooters between Mike Yates, Eugene Berman and Kyle Schmidt, all Expert class. The team placed eighth out of 23 2-man teams total.

In the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) prestigious National Trophy Team (NTT) match, ASRPA fielded a team of High Master class shooters John Zurek, Steve Reiter, and Tony Silva, and a Master class shooter Brenda Silva. CDR Steve Killingsworth, USN (ret) captained the team. The team placed seventh out of 20 teams total.

Notable individual achievements:

John Zurek:

  • First High Master / Civilian in the NRA 2700 match;
  • No. 10 in the President’s Hundred match out of 480 total shooters with the score of 377-5x / 400;
  • Fired a 285-10x / 300 in the National Trophy Individual match (NTI) for 14th place out of 433 shooters;
  • Fired a 288-9x / 300 in the NTT; received the Gold Elihu Root medal and election to the US National Trophy Pistol Team.

 

Steve Reiter:

  • Fired a 364-4x / 400 in the President’s Hundred match, placing 34th out of 480 shooters.

 

Kyle Schmidt:

  • Fired 2nd Expert / Police in the NRA 2700 match;
  • No. 22 out of 481 shooters in the CMP .22 Distinguished Rimfire Match;
  • No. 62 out of 480 total shooters with the score of 357-5x / 400;
  • Earned his Distinguished Pistol Badge.

 

Brenda Silva:

  • Civilian Woman Champion in the NRA 2700 match with the aggregated score of 2555-90x;

 

Tony Silva:

  • No. 20 in the High Master / Civilian with the aggregated score of 2520-67x;
  • No. 43 in the President’s Hundred match with the score of 362-8x;

 

Steve Killingsworth:

  • No. 63 in the in the President’s Hundred match with the score of 357-5x;
  • Was pinned his .22 Distinguished Rimfire badge on stage after earning it in May 2019 in Show Low, AZ.
